Neighbors Victimized By Doggie Doo

Dog Poop with leaf - Castro, San Francisco, 94114
I'm back into rant mode.

We were strolling down into the neigbhorhood business district yesterday. I'm happy to say it was wonderfully sunny in SF.

I'm ranting on behalf of the neighborhood, and for the poor souls of a home that I believe is the chronic victim of dog droppings. Not only do they get constant presents, today I noticed they got multiple gifts.

Therefore, I'm starting to get a little militant.  Watch out bad dog owners! We're watching you (between Eureka and Douglass, on 17th St).

Gripe About Dog Doo In The Street

Wet runny dog poop - San Francisco 94114
It was wet and rainy today, so I expected the worse for oozing, dripping, running poop.

However, my experience got expanded yet again!  Dodged the usual dog poop, including some petrified doo. Much to my horror, something new...

I'm gathering somebody picked up some doo, and threw it into the street.. and then... it got smeared by cars going by. Criminy!  It's bad enough on the sidewalks, let alone having to dodge it on the streets.

'nuff said.

The Poop On San Fran Pooper Scooper Act Of 1978

Harvey Milk filling in for Mayor Moscone for a...Image via Wikipedia
A good read related to the history of Harvey Milk's pooper scooper law of 1978, posted on the San Francisco History Center and Book Arts & Special Collections Blog, A Dog's Life: Scoop the Poop Act of 1978.

The blog shares a bit of history, some photos of memorabilia, and information about an exhibit that runs for a few more days.

SF Bay To Breakers Dogs

San Francisco Bay to Breakers 2010 - Crowd Shot
It's raining today. Normally, I'd rant about running, oozing, dissolving dog crap. BUT...

... yesterday was the 99th running of the San Francisco Bay to Breakers run. It was fun, zany, crazy, and plenty of dogs were there. Here's to dogs having fun during the Bay to Breakers run.

Give A Jerk His Dog Crap

What appears to be a pants commercial on MetaCafe is so understated and is really quite militant.  Don't be fooled and give up on this video.  It starts off as a pants commercial and ends up giving "a jerk his dog crap."  Hang in there until the very end and enjoy the final blow. Enjoy!

I Dislike Poo On Shoes

Acro Shoes - Jim Lamberson public domain photo from Wikipedia
I just can't stand getting dog poop on my shoes. It stinks, it's messy, and often gets tracked around the house. Ewwww!

Now imagine this, how about stepping into some fun in these shoes, as shown and described on TopTenz, Top 10 Worst Shoes To Wear And Step In Dog Poop.

Pick Up Your Dog Poop - Honor Mom on Mother's Day

Clivia - Under Gay Flag - Market and Castro 94114 - Dog Doo Rants

Today is Mother's Day.

If you're a dog owner who doesn't pick up your dog's doo, then at least think about starting. Starting to clean up after your dog would be a nice way to honor moms on this Mother's Day.

Hope you enjoy the uncharacteristic, lovely shot of flowers in this post.  Happy Mother's Day!

Humorous Dog Doo Palindrome

Constipated Dog Doo with Leaf - 17th St near Eureka - 94114
I learned a new word today, palindrome.  I think the application to this blog is very funny.

Palindrome: a word or phrase that reads the same backward as forward

So here's today's palindrome:     Dog doo? Good God!

Check it out! It reads the same forwards AND backwards. Isn't that a kick!!!

. . . a bonus rant (about the constipated dog doo photo) . . .  for heaven's sake, change that dog's diet, it's constipated!

The Noe Valley Fellow Dog Owners Sign - My Pilgrimage Ends In Disappointment

Pick up dog poop sign - Noe Valley, San Francisco
This last Sunday was picture perfect, so I decided to make a pilgrimage. The journey took me to Noe Valley Pet Company, where I was expecting to pay homage to the sign, "Fellow dog owners - Let's do our part to take care of our city."  Alas, the sign was posted no more.

I had hoped to post a picture of the sign, and instead, I offer you a picture taken at the dog run near 30th and Church.

Another YouTube Dog Doo Rant - Dear Other Dog Owner

I discovered another YouTube dog doo rant video, Project: Rant: RANT 052: Dear Other Dog Owner.  I'm rather enjoying these videos.  They're certainly helping me work through my feelings about others' dog poop habits.  I hope you find this cathartic and/or entertaining.

No Rant Today - Rather A Thank You To Responsible Dog Owners

17th St & Ord Park 94114 - Dog Poo Disposal Bag Dispenser
It's Saturday, and the weather is just gorgeous!  Also, I haven't been too riled about dog poop lately.

So for a change of pace, I want to give a post of thanks to responsible dog owners for all that they do (no pun intended):
  1. They clean up after their dog(s), and follow proper disposal techniques.
  2. They clean up after irresponsible dog owners.
  3. They offer clean-up bags to dog owners that need one, or should be using one.
  4. For sharing the same passion I have about dog owners that don't do :)  their share to keep spaces free of dog crap.
Kudos to my responsible dog friends!  Are there any other things that they do that we should be thankful for?
