Sad - No Respect For Folks With Dog Doo Plight

I've been meaning to write about this for some time, and finally got around to it.

Here's the deal.  Several months back, I saw this sign posted in the window, and blogged about it, Wheelchair Dog Poo.

Unfortunately, someone decided to deface the window of this home with spray paint. I didn't have my camera on me at the time, so you won't get to see the real picture of the defacement.  The end result, the sign was taken down.

Very sad indeed.

Ben says, "Pick up your dog's poop!"

Dog doo can get pretty personal.

I have sympathy for Ben, as the worst dog poo offenders leave their cr*p on the grounds where we live.

SFPD Dog Sign Says . . .

If dog owners would only follow these San Francisco Police Department signs.

The text of the sign references, City and County of San Francisco - Animal Care and Control - Health Code - Section 40 - Dog to be Controlled so as Not to Commit Nuisances.

Section 40 states:

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person owning or having control or custody of any dog to permit the animal to defecate upon the public property of this City or upon the private property of another unless the person immediately remove the feces and properly dispose of it; provided, however, that nothing herein contained authorizes such person to enter upon the private property of another without permission.

(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to walk a dog on public property of this City or upon the private property of another without carrying at all times a suitable container or other suitable instrument for the removal and disposal of dog feces.

(c) Visually handicapped persons who use Seeing Eye Guide Dogs are exempt from this law. (Amended by Ord. 420s78, App. 9/8/78)

Unsightly Dog Doo Disposal Habits

There's a new trend in the neighborhood.  Some dog owners are responsibly picking up dog poo, and bagging it in plastic (as you can see in these photos).

However, I can only guess that they're only too lazy to throw it in their trash bins, or they're trying to avoid making their homes smell.

In any event, the ultimate outcome is these dog owners are making our neighborhood rather unsightly.

The clues here are:

• there's toilet tissue
• there's overflowing sewer water (see the sewer pipe cover?)
• . . . and of course the unsightly doo

Dog Doo-dles - Maybe I Should Retire This Blog

I launched this rants blog just over a year ago, and now I'm having second thoughts.

To be sure, I've definitely gotten catharsis out of this. In some respects, it was kind of righteous to rant about soiled sidewalks and more.

Alas, the pendulum has swung in the direction of dog owner pickup cleanliness, and I have precious little to show or share on this blog.  It makes me stop to think whether it's time to hang up this blog.

. . . and here's an example of  responsible dog ownership, dog doo-dles left behind from a responsible dog owner cleaning up.

Golf Dog Doo - Part Two

We were out golfing again and saw something that we hadn't seen before.

If you recall, I just ranted about dog poo in the middle of the golf fairway.  Until now, I've not seen too many dogs getting walked through the golf course. Some, but not very many.

Today shed a new light.  At a nearby hole, we saw a golf cart with a dog leashed to it.  The dog was at the course with its owner.   Okay, now we have another possible reason for doo on the course.

In any event, bad dog owners not picking up, whether they golf or not, are just irresponsible.

'nuff said.

San Fran Golf Course - Gone To The Dogs

Image via WikipediaWe just played golf this past weekend at San Francisco's Fleming Course (inside of Harding Park Golf Course) out by Lake Merced.

We love the place . . .

. . . except for the dog owner who allowed their dog to doo it in the middle of a fairway (#7 on the illustration) and leave it!

Golfers pay fees to play a round of golf.  Runners, walkers, and dog walkers can stroll through the course without paying any sort of entrance fee.  Maybe the park system should consider some expanded usage fee system; especially for those walking dogs.

Tree Buds Posing As Dog Doo

In the morning or evening darkness, watching out for dreaded poo is a must.

The eye is so easily fooled by doo imposters such as these.  I don't know what kind of tree these drop from, but they appear to be coming from some kind of flowering or budding tree in our neighborhood.
