Grateful For Longer Days - To See Doo

I'm grateful for the recent epic Winter Solstice, and for it signaling the coming of longer days and daylight:

. . . because it'll allow me to see what I've not been able to see during the very long and dark nights leading up to this Winter Solstice:

Ensure Holiday Pet Safety

Since it's the holiday season, I'm making it a point to share something beyond this blog's doo-centric focus.

Don’t let a pet disaster turn both your and your pets’ Holiday “Ho-Ho-Ho!” into a Holiday “Oh No!

Pay attention to: pet treats, tinsel and ribbons, plants, poinsettias, mistletoe, holly, table scraps, and human treats.

Novy Koi Better Than Ambient Dog Poo

Koi Fish on Castro sidewalk - Jeremy Novy - San Francisco, CA 94114
Something different for a change of pace. Recently, in our new neighborhood park (next to the Twin Peaks Bar), I noticed these wonderful koi appearing on the ground. I've wondered who was responsible for them.

Today, while strolling into the Castro, I noticed some new koi fish on the sidewalk of the little triangular park near our house. See the picture I took.  This is such a fabulous distraction to all the dog doo that litters the sidewalks.

Many thanks to the artist, Jeremy Novy. Learn more about Jeremy in this SFGate article, S.F. artist Jeremy Novy thrives in outdoor gallery.

High Doo Haiku - Sick Humor

Some sick humor fun. Consider this part two of the previous post. I crafted this Haiku to go along with what I previously recounted.

I named this Haiku, "High Doo." Here goes:

Fresh dog doo on wall
Dog jumps high to leave wet doo
Human poo, or dog doo?

One More Clue - Is it human or dog poo?

Human poop on wall and ground at SF Muni Castro St Station, Castro - San Francisco CA 94114
The scoop about poop was mentioned in a previous post, There Are Folks More Obsessed About Dog Doo Than Me.

Well, now it's time to add another clue to the list.

If the poo is 'high,' it's probably human. I think the poo in the picture is human. Tip - look at the size of the bricks.

Would this bright idea for dog poop fly in SF?

I had to smile after reading this SFGate.com article, Dog poop has bright side: Powering Mass. park lamp.

Just drop your doo in the tank, crank it to mix, and voila, methane gas to power a park gaslamp.

The idea is quite ingenious. In San Francisco, and in my neighborhood, I suspect this could only fly in heavily dog trafficked areas, and where there's iron will by dog owners to contribute to the greater good.

If we can't get dog doo littering dog owners to pick up, how can we expect them to contribute to a communal gas lamp?!

Dog Poo Courtesy - Unexpectedly Refreshing

Considerate dog owner covers smeared dog doo with branch and leaves. Castro, San Francisco CA, 94114.
Though dog poo on the sidewalk isn't welcome, I have to say something nice about this encounter.

Looks like there was wet doo here, and the dog owner attempted to pick up the gloppy mess.  I appreciate the broken twigs and leaves warning to avoid stepping into the smear.

I wish there were more considerate dog owners in the neighborhood.

Why Buy Poo - Just Take It For Free!

Poo sold here! (a sign). Castro, San Francisco CA, 94114
I was walking in the neighborhood and saw this sign in the store window!

Why would you want to buy poop, when there's plenty of dog poop on the sidewalks of our neighborhood!?

The sign promotes recycled and odorless paper products, made from elephant poo, that are sold by POOPOOPAPER.

One of their products:  Elephant Poo Poo Paper Journal - Bark Elephant
