Doggie Doo Bagged But Not Thrown Away - How Come?

Every once in awhile, I see bagged-up poo left outside, often at the base of a tree. This seems to be a semi-pattern.  Can anyone out there help me understand what these dog owners are thinking?

On one hand, I'm pleased the doo is bagged. On the otherhand, it's rather unsightly.

Is the semi-pattern occurring because good Samaritan dog owners are picking up behind other owners? Or is there a good reason dog owners sometimes leave the stuff behind outdoors?

Perplexed.

Dog Defecation Ticket Costs More Than Most San Francisco Parking Tickets

On a different note, San Francisco has its own set of problems related to the homeless and their dogs. This was highlighted in today's San Francisco Examiner story, Dogs becoming concern on Haight.

What caught my eye was a listing of the amount of fines when dog laws are violated, resulting in police handing out a ticket. The fine for dog defecation is $319.

I'm glad to see such a hefty fine.  And the truth is, it really is hefty when you compare it to most of the parking ticket fines that are given out in San Francisco, San Francisco CA, Transportation Code - Article 300 Fines and Fees.

Flagging or Marking Dog Droppings

We just visited Palm Springs. While we were there, we saw a TV news spot highlighting something interesting in Desert Hot Springs. To no surprise, The Desert Sun article says it all, Cities tired of picking up after your dog.

Make sure you view the article and the photo that goes with it. You'll see a picture of tons of little flags stuck into dog poop left behind by dog owners. Folks fed up by the dog droppings put flags into the dog doo to draw attention and awareness to just how bad the mess is.

Man Slips On Dog Poo - Million Dollar Law Suit

I'm not sure how I really feel about the following situation in this Dogster post, Man Slips in Dog Poo, Sues for $1 Million. Basically, a man slips on poo in a pet store that allows pets in the store, and he slips on doo, and hurts himself.

My stream of consciousness:

• looking to capitalize on a situation and file a frivolous suit?
• who's really at fault, the store, or the dog owner?
• I can't stand dog owners bringing their dogs into neighborhood stores, especially restaurants and grocery stores. How unhygienic.
• it doesn't matter where or when, dog owners should be picking up their dog poo
• I have pair of shoes that act like skis when they hit something moist or wet. I've hurt myself many times because of it.

Bottomline, the dog doo didn't belong on the store floor in the first place!

I Wish Rain Would Completely Wash Sidewalks Clean Of Doo Poop

I can wish it, but it doesn't always work that way. For example, a light rain or drizzle simply turns dog doo into wet dog goo. Ick!
