I was in the neighborhood recently, and decided to walk around the grounds of the Eureka Valley Recreation Center. One word, filthy!
The Center has a building, children's playground, baseball field, tennis court, and a dog run. I just walked around the perimeter on the sidewalk. I didn't go into the dog run, so I'm unable to report on the cleanliness of that space. What I can share with you is that the surrounding sidewalk areas are gross, filthy, and covered by dog poop.
I suspect the dog run is a doo magnet for the surrounding sidewalks. It's a shame.

Hilarious - Farting Pet
And now for something different, a nice break from being too serious. This is hilarious.
Darn! I wish this was a farting dog.
But alas, it's an interactive farting cat. Just click on the image of the cat to make it fart. Enjoy!

A Surprise Root Cause of Dog Poop - Drive By Doo
The other day I was walking home from work, and witnessed something unexpected, a surprising new explanation for dog pooping.
A car drove up, stopped to park, and out popped a lady with a samll dog (the one you see in the photo). Never one to miss a photo opp, I stopped to wait and watch. Mostly, I wanted to be present to influence the need to pick-up, should the owner be tempted to dump and run. The poor pup eventually did it right then and there on the sidewalk, much to the lady's chagrin (see 2nd photo). She had no bag ready, and had to go back to the car for supplies. Kudos to her for making the effort to clean the runny doo.
I must confess that I felt a little guilty. The pup probably wasn't feeling well and needed a pit stop. On the otherhand, without bag in hand, I suspect this would have been a drive-by dump and run.

Campaign To Flag Dog Droppings
I've read about neighborhood campaigns to reduce dog poop left by dog owners. I really like the idea of 'flag' campaigns to bring attention to the problem. So this week, I've started party toothpick flagging. Let's see what happens.
